About Alaska
My name is Alaska Popham, I am 21 years of age and I was born and raised in South Africa and this is still the country I reside in. I have completed high school at Alberton High school here in Gauteng, Johannesburg and I obtained a bachelor’s degree on my matric certificate. I decided to complete a 120 hour TEFL course as I took an interest in teaching English as a foreign language. I do have some experience in teaching as I used to teach at an aftercare, as well as tutor students who needed the extra help with certain subjects. I think what makes me a good teacher is my enthusiasm, my motivation and my CAN DO IT attitude. I like to take challenges and don’t often see them as an obstacle. Another thing that makes me a good teacher is the skills I have in communication and the empathy and patience I portray towards others. I take both success and failure in a balanced manner which always leaves room for improvements and making sure to never neglect that opportunity.
