About Nicole

I bring a unique blend of expertise to my tutoring sessions, holding three degrees that shape my teaching methods. I have a BA degree in Special Education, a master's degree in Literacy, and a master's degree in Instructional Design. These areas of study allow me to create lessons that are research-based, accessible, and designed to match each student’s individual learning style—whether they need extra help, enrichment, or simply a confidence boost. What sets me apart as a tutor is my deep understanding of how children and adults learn at every stage of life. My background in special education helps me adjust to different learning needs; my literacy training ensures strong reading foundations; and my expertise in instructional design allows me to create personalized, effective lessons that keep students engaged and progressing.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach is built on patience, encouragement, and meeting each learner exactly where they are. I specialize in early literacy, reading, math for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, and GED preparation for older learners. Whether I’m helping a young reader sound out words or supporting a middle schooler with math confidence, I make sure each lesson is engaging, supportive, and tailored to the individual student’s needs.

A typical lesson begins with a brief review to reinforce previous learning, followed by focused skill-building activities that target the student’s current goals. For reading and literacy, this may include phonics, fluency practice, or comprehension strategies. In math, I emphasize clear explanations, hands-on problem solving, and practical application to help students make real-world connections. For GED students, I focus on content mastery, test strategies, and building confidence.

My lessons are perfect for elementary and middle school students needing support in reading, writing, or math, as well as for teens and adults preparing for the GED exam.
