About Mark

I aim to give students a passion, a discipline, a hobby and the opportunity to be part of a great community through 1-1 or group drum lessons.

My name is Mark and I currently teach around the Glasgow area but can also travel further afield depending on location. Travelling to your location means there is no hassle or loss of time for students as lessons are delivered at the students’ house. I can also supply the drum kit If you are still not sure about committing to the purchase and would prefer to trial lessons first.

My main job is lecturing in Music and Music Business within further and higher education were I specialise in Drum Kit however I have and still work closely with many teaching organisations including Glasgow Life, Argyll and Bute Council, Drake Music Scotland, Beatroute Arts, Sound Lab, Rockschool and Feis.

Generally, my current students are intermediate and advanced however I also deliver tuition to a number of beginners. At the moment I teach students from the age of 7 to 50 however - there is no parameter.

Lesson content is constructed from learner/parent intentions however I do like to develop the musicianship of my students and try to offer as many opportunities for them to develop and engage with the broader drumming community and identify opportunities for them to play in bands.

Over the past few years I have been a student to some of the UK's leading drummers including Steve White, Mike Dolbear, Colin Woolway, Craig Blundell, Mark Guiliana, Dave Hassell and the late Bob Armstrong. Furthermore, my background and degree are within education which has supported my ability to effectively communicate with students over the years.

Over the past few years I have been lucky enough to have received tuition from some of the UK's leading professionals including Steve White, Mike Dolbear, Colin Woolway, Craig Blundell, Mark Guiliana and currently receive monthly lessons from the UK's leading educator Bob Armstrong.
