About Corvus
I may be a scientist, but I am also an artist and a writer. I am pursuing a second bachelor's degree before I do my master's degree. I was part of the first year to go through the Curriculum for Excellence, and I have qualifications in jewellery making, biological sciences and anatomy. The reason I want to teach though is that sometimes students have been through so many ups and downs in education that they don't believe in themselves. I remember being in high school and the only teacher that made me feel like I was seen was my biology teacher. If not for him I would probably not have found the joy that science brings for me. I want to be that person for someone else that makes them believe they can do what they set their mind and heart to. And it shouldn't matter what stage a student is at in education as long as they're willing to learn I'm willing to teach and I'm also willing to learn from my students how they best learn.

I'm aware of the Curriculum for Excellence approaches, as I was in the first year that they were implemented. The Scottish Curriculum for Excellence has bled into the higher levels of education as well as high school, and I am comfortable teaching at multiple levels as long as they are below master's level as I do not yet have a master's degree. What we would probably do is go through the information of each learning outcome, test how well you understand each one and work from there. My aim is to allow students to not just memorise parrot fashion, but to actually understand what they are being taught. I also aim to help with being able to critically analyse scientific data so you will understand how to tell if a study is reliable or not which will help again with understanding the information and making good judgement calls on that. If you intend to go to university or are in university already for any science-related field then this is a fundamental skill.
