About Melissa

With over a decade of classroom experience in highly rigorous academic environments, I don't just understand curriculum—I understand the long-term trajectory of student success. I know exactly what foundational skills a student needs today to thrive in advanced environments tomorrow. My unique expertise lies in bridging the gap between specialized support and high-level academic achievement. I possess the rare ability to demystify complex, advanced concepts, making high-rigor curriculums fully accessible to diverse learners without ever lowering the bar. My teaching methods work. I have successfully scaffolded instruction for diverse students who have gone on to conquer AP courses and dual-enrollment college classes while still in high school. I know how to build the executive functioning and academic stamina required for top-tier tracks. True patience comes from deep expertise. Because I am a seasoned special education specialist, I meet students exactly where they are—managing anxiety, ADHD, or learning differences with data-driven, trauma-informed strategies that build bulletproof academic confidence.

I do not believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach. I naturally modify, accommodate, and scaffold content in real-time to match each student's unique learning profile, processing speed, and neurodivergence. Whether a student needs highly visual breakdowns, interactive step-by-step checklists, or gamified challenges, I pivot fluidly to match their preferred learning style.
Learning can be frustrating, especially for students who have historically struggled. I create a low-stress, judgment-free environment where mistakes are celebrated as data points, building a student’s self-efficacy alongside their academic skills.
Beyond teaching the subject matter, I integrate critical life skills into every session. I help students master time management, task initiation, organization, and emotional regulation strategies that they can carry into their general education classrooms.
I teach Regents Biology and middle school science as well as tutoring students to improve their language in English
