About Mike

My academic background has given me a strong understanding of historical topics, research, essay writing and critical analysis. I am passionate about helping students develop their subject knowledge, improve their written work and build the confidence they need to succeed in their studies.

I aim to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, tackling challenging topics and learning from their mistakes. Whether you are looking to strengthen your understanding of English, develop your historical knowledge or improve your essay-writing skills, I will work with you to identify your goals and make steady progress towards achieving them.

Having completed English Literature and History at A Level, I understand the demands of the subject, and the details of the curriculum of both subjects.

I believe that with the right guidance, encouragement and approach, every student can build their confidence and reach their potential. I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goal.

About the lesson

I currently work as a Teaching Assistant at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution, where I work closely with a pupil on a one-to-one basis. This role has provided me with valuable insight into the responsibilities and challenges involved in supporting pupils with individual educational needs. It has taught me the importance of patience, consistency and clear communication, as well as the need to adapt my approach according to the individual pupil.
The length of a lesson can range from 1-2 hours, depending on the needs of the pupil. The lessons are catered towards students up to A Level, including those of primary school age.
