About Semin
Hello there! I have 3+ years of tutoring experience from my undergraduate career at UC Santa Cruz and 2+ years of mentoring new tutors in their journey to provide academic support to our peers! I held over 400 tutoring sessions during college which helped me develop techniques to optimize students' learning. I find it so rewarding to contribute to my students' growth, success and self confidence. So I am very excited connect with new students here!

I believe in the importance of personalized tutoring sessions where student and I collaborate to achieve greatest improvement in student's success! A typical lesson starts with a short warm up activity such as a brain dump activity, goal-expectation setting or a general knowledge recall exercise. The main part of the session can have anything from open ended exercises to encourage student actively use their knowledge to tutor explaining challenging concepts. My goal with my sessions is for students accomplish a learning goal. So in sessions where I get to explain topics, I will make sure my student will get the chance to apply the knowledge to ensure long term retaining. If the time allows, we complete a cool down activity at the end to reflect back on session, progress towards goals and future steps. I am experienced to tutor high school classes such as AP Biology and Chemistry, undergraduate level biology, chemistry and physics and any math and science class for K-12.
