About Erkan
I'm currently performing a year of research at the University of Oxford in Computational Condensed Matter Physics after completing my MSc in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics at the same institution.
Before this I performed my undergraduate studies in physics in France at ENS. During this period I undertook each year, various research internships, one on optimizing a resonant cavity for an experiment which had the ambition of detecting Axions, a hypothetical particle which could be the constituent of Dark Matter at the Laboratoire de l'École Normale Supérieure and then at the University of Cambridge in the field of spintronics studying the propagation of THz laser pulses through heterostructures.
I am passionate about physics and mathematics, not only appreciating the absorption of the relevant concepts but also through the application of newly acquired concepts to new problems, with the idea of hopefully discovering something new. I'm also keen on diffusing these ideas as my teaching experience in both the public and private sector suggest.

I have taught in various settings such as a Physics examiner for engineering undergraduate students under the French Ministry of Higher education, as a private tutor for students at school and 1st and 2nd year undergraduates in Mathematics and Physics (both in the French and English system). Through this diversity of students, I have built a solid understanding on how to convey such notions in an efficient and motivating manner.
From experience, I believe that the motivating part is the easiest, as these subjects are truly (when put under the right light) thrilling. For the efficiency part, the learning will involve a thorough but rapid confrontation of each concept. As each student is different, we'll address each concept in multiple ways which will give, first, the possibility of grasping the idea the way the student prefers while, secondly, giving a deeper and fuller vision of these ideas. After this first confrontation, practice being unavoidable, we'll consolidate these ideas through exercices which will come from as many sources as possible.
This method will be adapted to the level of each student, depending on their aspirations. Whether they desire a helping hand to keep up with the rhythm imposed by their school or university or they want to simply delve deeper into these notions to prepare, for example, for university admissions.
