PROFESSIONAL SKILLS "Mr Abuinsair's planning is based on a clear perception of how to improve understanding, confidence and self-esteem. Many students join the school with low attainment, but Mr Abuinsair's teaching makes it commonplace for them to improve by three or even four levels in Years 7 to 9; tracking of the current Year 11 already shows several students working three GCSE grades higher than predicted. Progress in an observed lesson with this group working on simultaneous quadratic equations was exceptionally successful because he engendered a culture of success with his lively and encouraging teaching style and use of peer- and self-assessment, in conjunction with challenging targets.
