About Rebecca
Born and raised in Florence, Italy, I moved to New York to study at the Martha Graham School, where I now teach in the Young Artists Program. I am also a certified Gyrotonic trainer. My teaching style blends the expressive depth of the Graham technique with the anatomical awareness of Gyrotonic. I see movement as a way to connect body and mind, helping students develop strength, clarity, and confidence while exploring dance as a powerful form of expression and storytelling.

As a Graham-certified teacher, I focus on building a strong technical foundation through the core principles of the Graham technique. I begin with floor work exercises that help students understand contraction and release, breath, and alignment. Throughout the class, I incorporate variations in dynamics and tempo to challenge the body, build control, and develop the strength necessary for standing work and traveling across the floor. My teaching approach emphasizes both physical awareness and musicality, helping students connect technique with expressive movement.
A typical class starts with floor work to warm up the body and introduce key technical concepts, gradually building strength and coordination. The lesson then moves into standing work and traveling combinations across the floor, where students apply the principles learned earlier in the class. Each session ends with a short movement phrase or combination that integrates technique, dynamics, and artistic expression.
My teaching style is highly adaptable and student-centered. I aim to make the Graham technique clear, accessible, and enjoyable for every student by explaining the anatomical logic behind each movement. By breaking down complex concepts into simple, understandable steps, I help students learn how to move efficiently and safely. My goal is for students not only to perform the technique well but to understand ‘why’ the body moves in certain ways, allowing them to dance with confidence and intelligence.
These lessons are suitable for dancers of different levels, from beginners discovering Graham technique to intermediate and advanced students who want to deepen their practice. They are particularly helpful for dance students in conservatories, university dance programs, or professional training programs, as well as dancers preparing for auditions, performances, or technique refinement. My classes are tailored to the specific needs, goals, and experience level of each student.
