About Zem
I'm a fully registered and qualified primary teacher who moved to Edinburgh after many many years living and teaching in a different Scottish city. I love teaching children and have acquired a tremendous amount of expertise and experience in teaching primary children of all ages. However classroom teaching is no longer what it was, and I've decided to get into tutoring while being on the Supply list to allow me to still access any new teaching strategies or resources that would be available in schools.
Most of my teaching career has been teaching 1-1 or small groups of children, hence why tutoring is a logical step for me. I have developed distinct programmes in schools to respond to the needs of children across the years.
I have experience of teaching in an International School overseas, and so have experience challenging children as well as supporting those who need a little extra.
I drive and prefer to teach in your home after school, but am free during the day and can teach at mine if necessary.

Tutoring (Literacy and Numeracy) is for children of any primary age and stage who need support to grasp key learning and achieve the level for their year group, or those who need greater challenge in a 1-1 calm environment, without all the distractions in the modern classroom.
Tutoring is based on an initial assessment of strengths and gaps & approach to learning. This will inform how I structure the sessions as every child is unique and will respond to different strategies.
I'm trained and experienced in supporting children with ASN including dyslexia, deaf learners, and those with various communication needs. I'm an experienced mainstream teacher and have taught the majority of the time in a Support for Learning/Targeted Support Role in school - developing programmes and supporting 1-1 or small groups of children who need that little extra to grasp a new learning, or to gain confidence to participate fully in the classroom.
Typical length of a lesson is 1 hour
The first FREE assessment lesson would be for 30 minutes
