I also trained as an actor, graduating from The Gulidhall School of Music and Drama. I have performed in theatres such as The Royal Court, The Globe, The Donmar Warehouse,The Almeida ,The Bush Theatre, The Gate, and theatres across the U.K., Europe and The United States. I have also performed extensively on film and television, working with directors such as Joe Wright, Mike Leigh and David Yates.
Perfect! Rodger is very friendly. His method is inspired by Stanislavski based practitioners. He communicates very clearly and has the ability to help you understand a text on a practical level. Would definitely recommend him
Perfect! Amazing teacher. Knew exactly how to help me improve. Was amazing at tweaking small parts of my monologues which ended up making them 100x better
Perfect! Very thoughtful, informative and reassuring. Talking with Roger has installed in me a sense of hope and excitement about the future.
Perfect! Hi! I have been preparing speeches for drama school auditions and Roger has been helping me with it. If you are looking for a tutor who is professional, takes great interest in the individuality of a student, and is great fun to have lessons with - you are in luck! :)
Perfect! Couldn't recommend Roger enough! From having no experience in acting whatsoever Roger has been fantastic with me right from the get go! He's extremely encouraging, patient and constructive in his approach - he really helped by not overwhelming me with too much in one go. Extremely excited to keep moving forward. Thanks Roger
Perfect! Roger really knew what he was talking about when it came to understanding external performative approaches to acting which is very interesting and different: He made some good suggestions to better inform my progression in this regard.
Perfect! Roger helped me tremendously on multiple aspects: 1/ to develop being front-footed and articulated, in a way applicable to all my speeches 2/ build confidence in encouraging me and pushing me at every steps 3/ walk through walls that I even didn't know existed and prevented me to move forward. Thank you!
Perfect! Roger helped so much with my confidence to do my monologue audition pieces on zoom. He’s funny and encouraging. He helped me in how to pace them and deliver them. His feedback has really lifted them to another level. I feel confident and prepared for my Drama School zoom audition next week. Thanks so much Roger. I will book a session with you before every audition I have from now on. X
- Roger's response : Carrie your a superstar.

Roger taught me at drama school. Still to this day he has been one of, if not the most inspiring teachers I’ve had. He’s an actor so he gets it. He had a way of communicating that other directors and teachers couldn’t and it made such a difference. He’s funny and imaginative and makes it fun! That project changed me as an actor and I hope to work with him again one day!
Roger was the first director I worked with at drama school whose experience in the industry shaped how he worked with us. He provided a safe space for us to perform, make mistakes, laugh, and ultimately grow. It was the first step of many on the road to professional acting, and we couldn’t have had a better, more equipped guide.
I’ve know Roger for around 20 years. Had the pleasure of acting on stage and radio with him. He is a gifted actor, clear, trustworthy, willing to play and take risks. He respects and supports other actors and works with you to create the most powerful interpretation of the piece of drama you’re working on. He’s hard working and diligent. I’d definitely book him!
Roger is one of the most talented actors I’ve ever worked. He’s a genius at communicating what he wants to do in a scene and what he wants from you. He does it simply and succinctly. He cuts through everything and allow you to act out the truth. I cannot recommend him enough for any aspiring actor to have as a tutor.
I have worked with Roger, he stepped in at very short notice and blew the other actors away with his energy and talent. I would work with him again in a heartbeat, and as a tutor I guarantee he has bucket loads full of advice and tips.
He is one of the beat actors I have ever met. He is a wonderful father and a truly inspiring teacher
Roger Evans is the best. He’s not only one of the loveliest people, He’ s also a brilliant actor and a warm and generous teacher. He’s honest and encouraging but extremely insightful and specific- which is just what you need. I would Highly recommend him!
I worked with Roger on one of my early films in 2012 when I had very little experience on set. He taught me all about improvisation technique and helped with my craft and was so open about his. I was lucky as I got to work with him and learn from him. I’ve made 30 films and three tv roles since then so he definitely gave me sound advice which I’ve used to this day as well as confidence. I highly recommend tutoring with him!
An amazing actor with a vast knowledge of the industry. Incredibly personable, kind and supportive.
If he's as incisive and informative in tuition as he was on stage, then you're in for a treat.
I am a director. I have known and worked with Roger Evans over twenty years. He is a sensitive, intuitive and wildly talented performer. His comedy timing is peerless. Grab him.
As someone who has directed Roger on two projects I can said that he’s a diamond. Patient, generous, professional and a superb actor. The master of subtlety. Plus he’s a great bloke to be around and a good laugh.
Roger is simultaneously one of the most sensitive and straight talking actor tutors I've come across. Can't recommend him enough and his combination of industry experience and theoretical knowledge is unmatched!

When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?
I had been an actor for about 15 years when I was asked by Mountview Theatre Academy to run some workshops. I really enjoyed working with the students and as a result of the workshop I was asked to direct the students 2nd year projects. I have continued to act, direct productions at Mountview and other Drama schools up to the present. While continuing to act I also did a Masters a RCSSD in Actor training and coaching. I am passionate about teaching but also think it is important to combine both acting and teaching as it keeps your finger on the pulse and makes sure the work you do is relevant and up to date.
Which artists or works affect you the most?
Actually it's the work I do with students that affects me the most. Through working with students it's is a reminder to me of the work I should be doing when I perform and keeps me passionate about my own practice.
What are the qualities and skill required to succeed in this area?
Being passionate and enthusiastic is really important. Feeling comfortable with messing up and getting stuff wrong. That's how we learn. When you are confident enough to mess up and not worry about it, that is where the gold lives. A healthy sense of mischief and play combined with a good work ethic and taking the work seriously will also help you no end.
What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?
Find where the joy lives in the work. Sometimes when the work gets tough and difficult you can forget about the joy it brings you and others. So searching for the joy even when playing something dark or painful is important as it keeps the mischievous actor alive and open to possibilities.
How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?
Acting and Teaching are such a massive part of my life. I can't imagine what I would do without them. I've been doing both now for over 20 years and it still amazes how much energy they give me.
What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?
I am proud of all the students I have directed in drama school over the years and also I've loved working with people who just want to use the techniques that I teach to increase their confidence and ability to relate others.
In terms of acting, I recently finishing filming a feature with an amazing team of creatives, under difficult COVID circumstances. If it wasn't for the work I do with my students I wouldn't have been able to do the things I needed to do every day on that film.
Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?
There is always a moment, at some point, where you see the student have a "light bulb moment" and you both recognise it. That, is thrilling for both of you. When it happens you both recognise it as a moment that can't be unlearned and it's brilliant.
Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?
It's all about the student. It's important to provide a bespoke framework that allows the student to fulfil their potential. Also I try to create an environment where the student feels comfortable to fail without embarrassment, which is the essence of creating exciting work and being a dynamic performer.
