Ed is well-versed in various styles of guitar, including rock, metal, blues, folk, etc. Ed has a thorough knowledge of music theory and an organized and compassionate way of teaching theory even to the beginner. He believes, and I feel correctly, that proper understanding of music theory is the foundation to proper, accurate, and interesting playing. He has several developed picking styles, be it flat picking or finger picking. He also has the patience and kindness important to a good teacher. Lastly, he will thoroughly learn a piece you pick out, and then slowly and clearly teach you to play it precisely. I can highly recommend Ed Lanthier as an excellent guitar teacher.
