About Lysander
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music, with a concentration in guitar performance, and have been teaching guitar for over six years. My academic training gave me a deep understanding of technique, music theory, and composition, which I now use to help students become confident, expressive musicians. Teaching has allowed me to combine my love for the instrument with my passion for guiding others on their musical path. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach a wide range of students—from absolute beginners to advanced players looking to polish their skills or expand their styles. I’ve taught in private one-on-one settings, group classes, and online environments, each offering unique experiences that have shaped my flexible and student-centered teaching approach. I always strive to create an atmosphere that’s both structured and relaxed, where students feel encouraged to ask questions and grow at their own pace. Beyond teaching, I actively perform and collaborate with other musicians, which keeps me inspired and connected to the music community. Whether playing solo acoustic sets or being part of a band, I bring real-world musical experience into the lessons I offer. I believe staying involved in performing sharpens my skills and gives my students a more authentic learning experience. What I enjoy most about teaching guitar is watching someone light up when they play a song for the first time or realize they’ve developed a new skill. It’s these small, personal victories that make the journey so rewarding. My aim is to help students not only learn guitar but also discover their musical voice and enjoy the process of making music for life.

My guitar lessons are thoughtfully designed to meet each student where they are, whether you're picking up the instrument for the first time or looking to refine your technique. We begin by discussing your musical goals and interests—be it learning your favorite songs, understanding music theory, or developing improvisational skills—and tailor the lesson plan accordingly. Flexibility and personalization are key to keeping the learning process motivating and enjoyable.
In beginner sessions, we focus on essential elements like chord transitions, rhythm patterns, proper hand positioning, and basic strumming techniques. These fundamentals are taught through simple, familiar songs that build confidence and keep practice engaging. As you grow more comfortable, we introduce scales, music reading, and ear training to deepen your musical understanding and ability.
For intermediate and advanced learners, we explore topics such as fingerstyle technique, barre chords, melodic playing, songwriting structure, and even solo performance preparation. We’ll also cover how to analyze music, build your repertoire, and develop your unique playing style. I often integrate theory in a practical way, so students see how concepts apply directly to their playing.
