About Dorothea

Hi! I’m Dorothea, a hard of hearing American Sign Language (ASL) tutor with over 30 years of experience. I started signing when I was 5 years old and deepened my knowledge by studying ASL and Deaf Culture at Laney College, the Louisiana School for the Deaf, and Southern University A&M. I’m passionate about helping students of all ages and skill levels learn ASL through personalized, interactive lessons designed to fit your unique goals and pace. Whether you’re a beginner, a family member, or preparing for an interpreting program, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Who My Lessons Are For
Whether you’re a beginner, a family member learning to communicate, a college student, or preparing for interpreter certification, my lessons are designed for all ages and skill levels. I welcome anyone eager to learn ASL and connect with the Deaf community.

Dorothea is really kind, helpful and an amazing teacher. She helped tutor me when I was learning ASL 101 and 102 through a college course. She’s not only a great teacher but also an amazing person! I would recommend her you’ll learn a lot.
