About Twyla
Music connects people through the specific tension found in a well-crafted hook. Exactly 56 students have worked with me to find their unique voice.
Teaching is the best way to refine my own understanding of lyric writing and melodic phrasing. We will explore title development and concept creation until the ideas feel solid. Rhyme schemes and metre provide the boundaries that make our creativity expand.
Imagery and detail in lyrics can turn a simple song into a powerful story. My BA Music Production informs how I view the relationship between melody and arrangement.
We will analyse point of view and perspective to ensure your lyrics hit hard. Writing memorable choruses is a craft that I love to teach to every independent artist.
My experience covers the entire spectrum of song structure. I promise that we will take your songwriting process apart and rebuild it with clarity. It is always a pleasure to watch a student find their specific sound.

The smell of a fresh notebook and the sound of an acoustic guitar start our sessions. We sit down to work on melody writing and specific lyrical imagery. You will find that my BA Music Production degree helps me provide technical feedback on your phrasing. We focus on the tiny details that turn a demo into a finished song.
I guide you through the process of developing a clear concept from start to finish. Every lesson feels like a collaborative writing room where we test ideas in real time. We look at how metre and rhyme schemes support the emotional impact of your lyrics. I will push you to consider the point of view of your listener.
Beginners and teens often find this structured approach makes the blank page less intimidating. I maintain a focus on the craft of songwriting throughout our time together. You will finish our sessions feeling capable and ready to write the next hit.
