I mosty relate the things with our surroundings so can you can observe the things anad learn about them .science contain things that are around us we have to just observe or notice them instead of ratafication .If we learn things practically them that will stay for forever but in case of reading & learning without observing & understanding then that is not sure for how much tume they will stay in our mind.
