About Sherika
Hi!! My name is Rika, and I am an honors student entering my senior year of high school. Throughout my academic career, I have maintained a strong commitment to learning and helping others succeed. I have taken numerous graded writing courses that have strengthened my skills in creative writing, communication, and critical thinking. Writing has always been one of my passions because it allows me to express ideas creatively while developing important academic skills. In addition, I have a genuine love for Algebra and enjoy the challenge of solving problems and helping others understand mathematical concepts. As a tutor, I am patient, encouraging, and dedicated to helping students build confidence in their abilities. I understand that every student learns differently, so I take the time to identify their strengths and create a supportive learning environment where they can grow. My goal is not only to help students improve academically but also to help them develop a positive attitude toward learning. As a fellow student, I understand the challenges that come with schoolwork and learning new concepts. This perspective allows me to connect with students and explain material in a way that is relatable and easy to understand. I am committed to helping each student reach their goals while making learning an engaging and rewarding experience.

My teaching approach focuses on building from what students already know and enjoy. At the beginning of our lessons, I use informal assessments and discussions to understand each student's current skill level, strengths, and areas for improvement. From there, I create lessons that are personalized to their needs and learning style.
A typical lesson includes a review of previously learned material, guided instruction on new concepts, practice activities, and opportunities for students to ask questions and apply what they have learned. In Algebra I, I help students strengthen their problem-solving skills and understanding of mathematical concepts. In Creative Writing, I help students develop their creativity, organization, storytelling, and writing confidence. What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students as a fellow learner. I understand the challenges students face because I am currently an honors student myself. My goal is not only to improve grades and skills but also to help students find enjoyment and confidence in learning.
My lessons are designed for elementary, middle school, and early high school students who want additional support in Algebra I, math foundations, or creative writing.
