This is a CER on the Holocaust
In the nonfiction article Liberation of Nazi Concentration Camps by The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Prisoners went through grating experiences during the final days of the war. At the beginning of this text the author ends the first paragraph by saying, “The Germans had been forced to leave these prisoners behind in their hasty retreat from the camp. Also left behind were victims’ belongings: 348,820 men’s suits, 836,255 women’s coats, and tens of thousands of pairs of shoes” (The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum 1). This shows that The Germans left the Jew’s stranded in the concentration camps while they fled. This is relevant because it discloses the dangers the Jew’s faced being left in the concentration camps, during the final days of the war. Furthermore, The author goes on to say, ““There were about a dozen bodies in the dirty boxcar, men and women alike. They had gone without food so long that their dead wrists were broomsticks tipped with claws. These were the victims of a deliberate starvation diet…”” (The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum 2). This explains how the Germans left the Jews to starve. This is important because it explains in detail the structure of these prisoners' hands, due to their lack of food. Therefore, Concentration camp prisoners went through harsh dangers during their final days of the war.
