About Dorothy
I grew up wanting to be a teacher. Every teacher I’ve had, including my parents, always had this zest for life and education. They inspired me. Fast forward to my life of working domestically in the U.S. and internationally in the Caribbean, I quickly understood that education is a unifier and that language is bigger than simply the words coming out of our mouths—it’s a whole-body experience. Language is our shared experiences, our gestures, our side eyes, our facial expressions, our sounds, and so much more. I wanted my students to stop doubting their ability to be good communicators simply because of their weaknesses with the English language. Instead, I wanted them to bring their life experiences as communicators into their study of English.

My lessons are geared towards real life application. Gone are the days where students feel like, “I’ll never use this in real life.” Language is art. It’s how we express ourselves through life. It’s the articulation of what we understand. I focus on ensuring that my students of all ages and levels experience the joy of language, and build the skills to grow in their education.
