About Sharjah
My name is Sharjah M'Bodji, and I am a young Puerto Rican & Belizean woman of color with a passion for education and creativity. I am a high school graduate taking a gap year to save for college, where I plan to pursue my long-term dream of becoming a lawyer. Over the past three years, I have gained valuable experience working with children, including babysitting for multiple families and holding a long-term afterschool job at The Fieldston Lower School.
I thrive in group settings, am a positive role model, and have a natural ability to connect with young learners. My goal as a tutor is to create a supportive, engaging environment where students feel confident expressing themselves and exploring new ideas.

As a tutor, my approach focuses on creating an engaging, supportive, and interactive learning environment tailored to each student’s unique needs. My teaching method emphasizes the joy of exploration and understanding in English, specifically poetry, through creative expression and critical thinking. I incorporate storytelling, discussions, and writing exercises to make lessons exciting and relatable.
A typical lesson plan might begin with exploring a well-known poem, analyzing its themes, structure, and language. Next, we engage in a fun activity, like writing a short poem inspired by the themes discussed. The session wraps up with constructive feedback and reflection on what we’ve learned.
What sets me apart is my passion for poetry and my ability to connect with young learners, sparking their creativity and confidence in writing. I aim to make English and poetry come alive for my students, instilling a love for self-expression.
These lessons are ideal for students in 6th grade and below who are eager to explore the world of poetry, improve their English skills, or simply discover new ways to express themselves through words.
