About Ivonne
Hi! My name is Ivonne Avila. Throughout my life, I was always advanced in the math section and found myself helping my peers, students at the elementary school I worked with (including children with special needs), and helping kids learn STEAM subjects during summer at their summer camp. I graduated high school in 2020 with presidential honors and have received math awards. I am attending college with a major in biology with a side track of pre-med. I have always connected with children mostly but remain a scholarly mentor for some of my younger friends. I hope to be a tutor for your student and make them feel comfortable with mathematics.

I am fairly new to tutoring but have always helped peers or children when I was volunteering at an elementary school. My process would be to work with a growth mindset which would strengthen a child's confidence in learning new material. My best material is math for k-12 students. My lessons would begin by speaking to the student and making them comfortable with our space. I would then proceed to see what they are working on in class, accessing what they are missing or having trouble with by seeing how they attempt the issue. I would then teach them through the problem and encourage questions. They would attempt a similar problem, if the process has not been learned, we are to find processes that work for the student. I hope I can be a tutor for your student, create bonds and make your student confident in the math subject.
