About Silvana
As a student myself, I understand how overwhelming school can be so I aim to make my lessons as enjoyable and effective as possible. In the past few years, I have worked with students, ranging from ages 6-16, with learning disabilities that prevent them from learning under regular classroom conditions, which is why I have adapted a system that works to make the student's understanding of a lesson my top priority as a tutor. By implementing games, practice problems, and other educational tools in my tutoring sessions, I have increased not only the students' knowledge on a topic, but also their confidence levels. The hard work put in by myself and my students have allowed them to achieve what they once thought was impossible for them, and more importantly, allowed them to be proud of their growth.

Learning should be made fun in order to maximize retention and encourage students to perform well in a subject. An average lesson plan of mine would include some in-depth review of any topic necessary with easy-to-understand analogies and questions to make sure the student is engaged in the learning process. I have no issue with repeating any content as the most important thing to me is that the student understands the information properly rather than memorizing it! In order to confirm that the student is understanding the material, I ask critical thinking questions in which they must apply what they have learned rather than reciting it back. My lessons are targeted towards elementary, middle school, and high school students who are struggling in their STEM (mainly science) based classes.
