About Camellia
I’m a California State University graduate, born and raised in California. After joining Teach For America, I moved to Houston, where I’ve spent the past three years teaching high school Physics and Chemistry. I specialize in helping students break through the fear of math and science by meeting them where they are. I firmly believe that these subjects aren't inherently difficult—it just takes a patient, understanding teacher who can explain concepts clearly and in a way that makes sense to you. My goal is to build your confidence, support your growth, and help you truly enjoy learning.

I use the "I do, we do, you do" method: I start by modeling the problem, then guide the student through practice, and finally observe as they solve problems independently. This builds confidence and reinforces understanding. Each session starts with a quick review, followed by a clear learning goal. I demonstrate the concept, we practice together, and the student finishes on their own. We end with a short reflection to check understanding. I create a supportive space tailored to each student’s learning style. There is no such thing as a "dumb question" as long as I am your tutor! I focus on building not just subject knowledge, but problem-solving and critical thinking skills that students can use across subjects. I tutor elementary, middle, and high school students in chemistry, algebra-based physics, and algebra. I support students at all levels—whether they need help catching up, keeping up, or moving ahead.
