About Bernice
I am a student in English, History and have completed a GCSE course in Classical Civilisations. I offer classes in English from beginner to GCSE level. I specialise in creative writing and poetry. I can support Spanish ESL and LEP students with developing a new vocabulary. I can help younger students explore their strengths and develop their weaknesses in creative writing. I have had previous experience working as a tutor in a school like environment with more challenging students and have proven to be very effective in developing a healthy passion for learning.

My teaching method is to go straight back to basics and look for weaknesses in a student’s knowledge. Then I slowly build on what they have learnt and teach what they do not know. I believe in encouraging students to want to learn for themselves, and I believe that rewarding students really motivates them. All students are different so I prefer to teach one on one, so that I can personalise my methods to each students. My lessons will start with a recap of the previous lesson, then an introduction to the new topic and explore different angles of thought. The lesson will finish with a quick recap and a reward depending on how much the student has made an effort to grasp the topic. A small task will be set as homework as this is important for development and understanding.
