About Mike
I am an active competitor and a veteran of numerous BJJ competitions worldwide. An IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation) certified 1st Degree black belt, who has been training and teaching full-time for well over a decade in order to be able to compete with some of the very best in the world.
I have always been a fan of the martial arts since childhood, I have trained in various other styles and combat sports such as Boxing, Judo, Wrestling and Karate to name a few but Brazilian Jiu jitsu proved to be the one for me. This was for the simple reason that BJJ kept my mind active and I continued to problem solve long after the training session had ended, troubleshooting escapes, counter-attacks and failed submission attempts would keep replaying in my mind and the feeling of overcoming a lingering technical hindrance is what really kept me hooked.
Shortly after starting I soon found myself helping teach classes for beginners and kids due to my constant presence on the mats, the satisfaction I gained from teaching coupled with my deep-seated desire to reach the pinnacle of my abilities in the sport, drove me to choose my life-long career as a BJJ instructor at the early age of 19. Since then, I have travelled from the U.K to the Americas to Japan to Singapore among countless other nations in order to teach/compete/train with and against some of the very best practitioners in the sport. I have recently returned home to London, after having co-founded two major BJJ academies in South-East Asia to lead the BJJ program here at Hampstead BJJ.

Happy to accept students of all levels (due to years of experience in teaching different levels from the complete novice to competitive athletes), session are typically an hour long but each session can be modified to suit.
Sessions will be available at "Hampstead BJJ" locationed in West Hampstead (5 minutes from the station). Otherwise, I'm also available for home visits for an additional fee, which may vary depending on distance of location (please note that BJJ mats will be required for BJJ sessions).
