About Ali
Hi, I'm Ali, a Mechanical Engineering student at Imperial College London, specialising in thermofluids and energy systems.
I've been tutoring for over five years. From 2022 to 2024 I tutored in person at Kumon, and during that time our centre became the second fastest-growing Kumon centre in Europe. For the past three years I've tutored online, working with nearly ten GCSE and A-level students. One student came to me with predicted Ds and went on to achieve three Bs.
I achieved A* in A-level Maths and Physics, an A in Further Maths and an A in Computing. So I know the content, and I also remember what it feels like to sit those exams. I teach A-level Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computing, as well as GCSE Maths, Physics and Computing.
Engineering gives me a real advantage in Physics lessons. Last summer I spent a month working on site at a 3,000 MW power plant, so I can show students how the equations they learn actually run real machines.
My lessons are patient and structured, and they focus on exams. I'm happy to adapt to how each student learns best.
I hold an Enhanced DBS check, and I'm fluent in English and Arabic.

Every lesson is built around the student, not a fixed script. In our first session I'll find out where you're confident, where you're stuck and what grade you're aiming for, then plan lessons to close that gap.
What a typical lesson looks like:
A quick recap of the last session to check the ideas have stuck
New content explained step by step, with worked examples
Practice questions, building up to real past-paper and exam-style problems
Exam technique: how to pick up method marks, set out answers clearly and manage time
Subjects and levels:
A-level: Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Computing
GCSE: Maths, Physics, Computing
All major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
Format: Lessons are online, using a shared digital whiteboard so we can work through problems together in real time. Lessons can be one-off sessions before an exam or regular weekly support across the year.
In Physics and Maths, I bring in real engineering examples where they help. Understanding why something works makes it far easier to remember in the exam.
If you're not sure where to start, book a first lesson and we'll work out a plan together.
