About Aura
Years ago, I learned how to work my first interchangeable lens camera while dangling 70 feet in the air from a harness, shooting professional rock climbers for a sponsored climbing photography scholarship weekend. This trial-by-fire approach helped me learn quickly and gave me a solid foundation for shooting fast-paced candid work in challenging lighting conditions. Now I’m shifting more toward studio photography, and I’ve become passionate about portraits in the fantasy photography and editorial genres. I love to help people feel truly seen in the photos I take, and consider it an honor and privilege to photograph people in ways that help them feel empowered and authentic in their own expression.

I’ve been an educator by trade for decades, first as a pediatric home health nurse and trainer for other nurses. I transitioned into teaching rock climbing, guiding canyoneering adventures, and instructing trauma-informed yoga full-time. Now, I have a master’s degree in education, so I have an even deeper foundation of how people learn that helps me teach things in an accessible way, while my background still enables me to create a supportive and fun learning environment.
