About Sophia
I am an incoming freshman at Rice University's Engineering school and currently am taking AP Calculus BC at my high school (college level calc 1 and 2) . I received a 5 on AP Calculus AB, passed Cambridge level Pre-Calculus and I am known as someone who is very ambitious according to my mentors and peers at school. Each week I go to an elementary school and act as a teaching assistant to help kids read and write. Outside of school, I am a full-time dancer and dance assistant instructor with over 5+ years of teaching kids dance. I am always eager to grow and help others and tutoring is definitely one way to do that with my love for math.

I will work with the student to identify weak areas and start with building from the basic concepts to the original lesson at hand. I am very patient and friendly. I want to help students visualize problems to get a clearer understanding. Math can seem abstract at times, but as the tutor I want to ensure that my student walks away from the lesson confident in solving any problem we worked on. I can teach elementary math such as basic multiplication and fractions all the way to calculus as someone who demonstrated excellence in a first-level college-level calculus course. Math has always been my jam and I hope to make it your jam too!
