VOLUNTEER YOUTH CORPS Work Outline
INTERACTIVE MATH AND SCIENCE PROGRAM: The aim of this program was to make learning FUN; for it to be an effective out of classroom experience for students who were struggling with Math and Science. I was tasked with developing weekly plans focusing mainly on fun learning activities and delivering lessons in a most fun way. Evaluating students’ performance and providing weekly reports to the Exxon Mobil Representative through the director of VYC.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE FOR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT
My eligibly for this program came from my performance in the Math and Science Program as I did not qualify, not having a degree at the time. But I grabbed it with both hands, to the point that my contract was renewed after the first year. What made me standout is that I understood the students. I understood what it meant to grow up having nothing and having access to nothing but being determined enough to become somebody with a plan and purpose that contributes meaningfully to society. And I was able to relate to the students. The curriculum was a specially designed one hence my creativity and innovation came in the delivery of same and planning activities, including trips and tours.
