I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of London and have enjoyed a successful and diverse career over the past 20 years within the Information Technology industry working across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Alongside this I have worked as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) ambassador, coach and mentor providing leadership and support to schools, teachers, pupils and early in career employees.
My teaching and leadership style is very supportive and personalised to the individuals I work with. I use my extensive knowledge and understanding of learning styles and preferences, individual strengths, and people based change management to help engage learners with maths in different ways. This approach helps build confidence in the subject and the resiliency necessary to take risks and extend their learning and interest in the subject. I am also able to contextualise the relevancy of maths within the working world and have an extensive professional network I can draw upon to provide additional insight and guidance across a variety of career choices.
In addition to my academic and professional qualifications and capabilities I hold certifications in safeguarding, mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy. I have hands on experience with special needs, anxiety and depression and I have an active Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) certificate in place.
I am passionate about helping others reach their full potential and have recently made the decision to devote the rest of my career to doing this in the most impactful ways I can. I started tutoring in 2017 and found that my personalised style and approach was particularly successful with young people who believe they can't do maths, struggle to see the relevancy and have low self-esteem or lack confidence. Since starting I have consistently produced results raising grade predictions by up to 3 levels.
