About Erin
Kia ora! My name is Erin and I have lived in Auckland for just over two years now. I love to travel the world, but Aotearoa is home now. I work as a teacher full-time in the North Shore, but when I'm not doing that I love to play ice hockey, surf when it's not too cold, and do carpentry jobs around the house. I have a real passion for history and science subjects, but love to teach literacy, math and anything else. I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Health Studies from a Canadian University, and did my Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching & Learning here at AUT. I am always looking for new ways to learn about the best teaching practices, and love to adapt lessons to ensure everyone has access to learning.

As an intermediate school classroom teacher, I hold a wealth of teaching knowledge and up to date teaching practices. Being a full time teacher allows me to fully grasp curriculum demands and requirements that students need to succeed for the Primary and Intermediate curriculum levels (Levels 1-5). I particularly enjoy teaching literacy topics (reading, writing and spelling) as I am fortunate to have participated in a variety of literacy teaching conferences to learn the best ways of teaching these subjects to children.
I would be happy to work with students in Year 1 to Year 8 with literacy (reading, writing, spelling, grammar) and maths. I look at doing 1 - 1.5 hour lessons face-to-face as I believe this is a really effective way to teach and learn.
