About Matthew
I've been learning German for 10+ years now, starting in high school. Three years after I started, I was ranked as the #1 extemporaneous speaker in German at the Texas-state German competition. Since then, I've obtained my C1.2 certificate (equivalent of fluency) and studied German at both the Goethe Institute and CDC Center in Germany. I've studied in Vienna, worked in Munich, and recently spent a year representing the US Department of State in Berlin. I'm passionate about teaching, and am a teaching aide at the German Saturday School in Houston in my free time.

Over 10+ years of learning German, I've seen how all different kinds of people in different stages of life can acquire fluency in another language. My lessons focus on building a strong sense of listening, a critical ear, and an internal passion for learning German. In all honesty, I hope that after our initial lessons, you will be able to become your own teacher and make leaps and bounds in your German skills totally on your own.
