About Isabel
I am at my core an artist. I graduated from CalArts in 2023, and have shown at galleries such as Sitting Room, Isolde, SADE, and The Hammer Museum. I currently am applying to grad schools with university-level teaching aspirations. I worked in elementary schools in Los Angeles and New York (in New York teaching rudimentary robotics). And in my youth, as a swim coach and at an afterschool art program for children with special needs.

Alongside teaching the fundamental skills, I try to teach how to expand beyond ‘instruction’ and into exploration. I find that particularly pattern-based crafts can fall rigid in their form, but with confidence and encouragement and solid base skill sets, this medium can be just as adaptive as any.
I learned to knit from my grandmother well before I could read, and this is the way she taught me. I draft and design my own patterns, and on the opposite end, I have made sweaters, dimensional stuffed animals, and done color work all intuitively.
