About Dan
Hi, I’m Dan — an actor, teacher and someone who genuinely believes that everyone has a story worth telling.
I have a degree in Drama and a background in acting, alongside many years of experience teaching English and Drama to students across primary, secondary and special educational needs settings.
Acting has always been much more than simply learning lines for me. I love the process of exploring a character, understanding what drives them, discovering the truth within a scene and finding ways to communicate that truth to an audience.
My approach is strongly influenced by the Stanislavski Method, particularly the importance of objectives, given circumstances, imagination, emotional truth and truthful, believable behaviour. I want students to understand why a character behaves the way they do, rather than simply telling them what to do.
Why do I want to teach acting?
Because I know how powerful drama can be — even if you never intend to become an actor.
Drama is about so much more than performing on a stage. It can help you develop confidence, communication, creativity, empathy, self-awareness and the ability to think on your feet. It can help you become more comfortable speaking in front of others, express your ideas more clearly, understand different perspectives and find your voice.
These are skills that can benefit you at school, university, work and in everyday life.
Perhaps you want to become an actor. Perhaps you're preparing for a Drama GCSE, A-Level or Drama School audition. Or perhaps you simply want to become more confident speaking in public, improve your communication skills, develop your creativity or feel more comfortable expressing yourself.
Whatever brings you to Drama, there's something valuable waiting to be discovered.
And that's what I love about teaching it.
There is something incredibly exciting about watching someone experiment, take a risk and discover that they are capable of more than they thought. Whether that's finding the confidence to perform a monologue, finally understanding how to approach a character, speaking in front of an audience without freezing, or simply becoming more comfortable expressing yourself — those moments matter.
I understand that performing or even speaking in front of other people can feel intimidating. That's why I aim to create a supportive environment where you can experiment, make mistakes, take risks and develop your confidence without feeling judged.
For students preparing for Drama School entrance, I'll help you bring the best version of yourself into the audition room. We'll work on monologues, acting choices, character development, confidence, communication and interview preparation, while helping you understand what makes you unique as a performer.
For GCSE and academic students, we'll focus on developing your practical and analytical skills, understanding characters and texts, exploring performance choices and preparing effectively for assessments and exams.
And if you're learning Drama simply because you want to build confidence, communication and other transferable skills, we'll tailor our sessions around you and the areas you'd like to develop.
I don't want to turn you into someone else's idea of an actor.
I want to help you discover the performer — and the person — you already have inside you.
Whether you're taking your first steps into acting, developing your technique, preparing for an important exam or audition, or simply looking to become a more confident and expressive communicator, I'll be there to challenge you, support you and help you grow.
Let's explore. Let's experiment. Let's express. Let's perform.

I started lessons with Dan because I wanted to become more confident and comfortable expressing myself, rather than because I wanted to pursue acting professionally. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the lessons have been incredibly useful.
Dan created a really relaxed and supportive environment where I felt comfortable trying things, making mistakes and stepping outside my comfort zone. Through the acting exercises, I’ve developed my confidence, communication skills and ability to think on my feet. I’ve also become much more comfortable speaking in front of other people and expressing my ideas clearly.
What surprised me most was how many of the skills from the lessons started appearing in everyday life. I feel more confident in conversations, presentations and social situations, and I’ve become much better at listening and responding rather than overthinking what I’m going to say.
Dan is encouraging without being pushy, and he makes every session feel enjoyable and purposeful.I would highly recommend Dan as a swimming teacher. He is friendly, patient and really encouraging, which made me feel much more comfortable and confident in the water. He took the time to understand what I needed to improve and adapted the lessons to suit me rather than making me feel rushed.
I’ve noticed a real improvement in both my swimming technique and my confidence, and I actually look forward to my lessons now! Dan explains things clearly, gives really helpful feedback and makes the lessons enjoyable.
If you’re looking for someone who is supportive, knowledgeable and genuinely wants to help you improve, I would definitely recommend Dan.I would highly recommend Dan for Life in the UK Test preparation. From the very beginning, he made the whole process feel much less stressful and much more manageable.
Dan explains everything clearly and patiently, and he doesn’t just expect you to memorise facts — he makes sure you actually understand what you’re learning. The lessons were well structured, and practising questions together really helped me become familiar with the type of questions I could expect in the test.
I particularly appreciated how supportive and encouraging Dan was throughout. Whenever I got something wrong, he explained why and helped me understand it rather than making me feel discouraged.
After working with Dan, I felt much more confident and prepared for the test. If you’re studying for the Life in the UK Test and want a friendly, patient and effective tutor, I would definitely recommend him!I've known Dan for a while now, and it's inspiring to listen to him about teaching and engaging students. He always has several ideas on how to keep his students interested in whatever topic he's teaching, how he identifies learning needs in them, and the approach he uses to tackle them.
Dan and I have been close friends for years, and I’ve seen firsthand just how natural he is at helping people learn. What I love most about him is how incredibly patient and down-to-earth he is—he has this unique knack for making even the most confusing things suddenly click. I still remember when we were stressing over a massive project together, and his ability to calmly break everything down step-by-step completely saved the day. Dan is just a genuinely supportive guy who cares about seeing others succeed, and anyone would be lucky to have him in their corner
