About Ernest

I am an experienced and passionate Sign Language tutor with over 6 years of teaching experience. I enjoy helping people develop the confidence and skills to communicate effectively through ASL and NSL. I am patient, approachable, and committed to making learning enjoyable, practical, and comfortable for every student.

I chose to teach Sign Language because I believe communication should be accessible to everyone. Seeing a student progress from knowing little or nothing about Sign Language to confidently communicating is incredibly rewarding to me.

Whether you are a complete beginner, learning for work or school, preparing to communicate with a Deaf family member or friend, or simply interested in learning a valuable new skill, I would love to help you. Book your first lesson with me and let's start your Sign Language journey together. I look forward to meeting you and helping you become a confident signer!

About the lesson

My approach to private tutoring is patient, practical, and tailored to each student’s learning pace. I create a friendly and comfortable environment where beginners and experienced learners can develop their confidence in ASL and NSL. Lessons are interactive and focused on real-life communication, vocabulary, sentence formation, expressions, and everyday conversations. I encourage students to ask questions, practise freely, and learn without fear of making mistakes. Whether you are learning for personal interest, work, school, communication, or to better connect with the Deaf community, I will structure each lesson around your individual goals and progress.

Ernest is a resilient fellow. I was honored to be among those who taught him sign language and watched him master the skills naturally. He is humble and empathetic. Where you think a deaf person would not open up, just call Ernest and the next minute the deaf person is smiling already. I would recommend him because he knows the language, he understands deaf people, and he is humble, kind, and ready to help.

It is an absolute pleasure to recommend Ernest Ikechukwu as a sign language instructor. His experience has been nothing short of transformative. He brings incredible patience, clarity, and passion to every lesson. Learning a new language with manual communication can feel challenging, but Mr. Ernest creates an inclusive, encouraging, and engaging environment. He focuses heavily on correct handshapes, facial expressions, and cultural context, ensuring students understand not just the mechanics of the signs, but the rich community behind the language. Because of his structured teaching methods and supportive approach, my confidence and vocabulary grew tremendously. Any student, school, or organization looking for a dedicated and skilled sign language educator will be fortunate to work with Mr. Ernest.
