My music journey began with the guitar when I was 13 years old. 2 years later I got into Fruity Loops and started making and selling beats locally in my neighborhood. At 20, I left university to fully commit to music. I ended up studying Sound Engineering & Electronic Music Production at S.A.E. Institute.
Following that, I worked at one of the legendary studios in Lebanon, Studio Joe Baroutjian, as assistant engineer to some of the greatest musicians and singers in the Middle East. I left when I got accepted into Berklee College of Music to study Electronic Music Production & Sound Design. Since then I have been freelancing, performing, teaching and exploring the audio-visual world while building my own live shows and DJ sets.
My DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) of choice is Bitwig, which I switched to 2 years ago. I also have 12 years of experience in Ableton, 2 years in Propellerhead Reason.

The first session is always assessment based, to gauge what level the student's knowledge is, as well as get a feel for which topics are easier and which are more difficult. This allows me to construct a well-balanced lesson plan for each student, as everyone learns differently.
A detailed lesson plan for a complete beginner could look something like this:
Topic 1: Introduction to Bitwig / Ableton Live
- Overview of interface
- Setting up your workspace and preferences
- Introduction to MIDI and audio tracks
- Basic navigation and shortcuts
-- Exercise: I will create a brief demo project live with you to give you a solid overview of the whole process that will be taught.
Topic 2: Working with MIDI
- Creating and editing MIDI clips
- Introduction to MIDI instruments
- Basic music theory for producers (rhythm, melody, chords)
- Using the Piano Roll and MIDI effects
-- Exercise: You will have to create drum patterns to solidify the MIDI concepts taught. Optionally, you can add musical elements.
Topic 3: Working with Audio - Importing and organizing audio files
- Warping and time-stretching audio
- Basic audio editing
- Introduction to audio effects
-- Exercise: You will choose a sample to experiment with while I am with you. After the lesson, you will make a short track (16 bars) that incorporates sampling in some way.
Topic 4: Building a Track - Structuring a song (intro, phrases, breakdowns, outro)
- Layering sounds and creating transitions
- Using automation to add movement and dynamics
- Basic mixing techniques (volume, panning, EQ)
-- Exercise: You will create a simple track in which you have creatively decided how to arrange the track. This is where you will use build-ups and breakdowns.
Topic 5: Sound Design Basics
- Introduction to synthesizers
- Creating basslines, pads, and leads
- Using effects creatively (filtering, distortion, modulation)
- Sampling and manipulating sounds
-- Exercise: You will create a few presets for a synth (or synths). I will then explore and assess your understanding and expand on it.
Topic 6: Finalizing Your Project
- Mixing techniques (compression, sidechain, stereo imaging)
- Introduction to mastering (limiting, EQ, loudness)
- Exporting your track for different platforms (WAV, MP3)
- Tips for sharing and promoting your music
-- Exercise: We will listen to your project together, and I will quiz you on the spot on concepts you used in the project. You will learn how to analyze a completed track and learn how to identify and solve common mixing issues.
Topic 7: Creative Techniques and Workflow
- Using Session View for live performance and improvisation
- Creative sampling and resampling techniques
- Exploring advanced tools
- Building a template for faster workflow
-- Exercise: You will make a performance-ready version of your project, and perform it without the arrangement. This gives you the foundations for a production-to-live workflow.
Topic 8: Final Project
- Student creates a short track from scratch
- I review your project and give you a detailed analysis and breakdown
- Tips for continuing your music production journey
-- Exercise: A final, wheels-off project you will create on your own from scratch. I will be attentive to your needs and questions throughout the process, but the goal is to see how much you have absorbed and what concepts might need a second run-through.
