About Beate

I am a professionally trained sculptor, educator, and participatory artist with over 15 years of fine art training. I hold an MFA from the University of Edinburgh and a BA in Academic Sculpture from the Art Academy of Latvia, specialising in traditional clay modelling, anatomy, and figurative sculpture.
My artistic work explores the human body, gesture, memory, and emotion through sculpture. Alongside my studio work, I teach in educational and community settings, helping students develop both technical skills and creative confidence.
I believe sculpture is more than learning a craft. Working with clay encourages observation, patience, self-expression, and a deeper connection to the creative process. My goal is to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment where students of all levels can thrive and enjoy the rewarding experience of bringing form to life with their hands.

About the lesson

Each session combines practical demonstrations, guided exercises, and individual feedback to help you develop confidence and technique.
A typical learning journey begins with understanding basic geometric forms, proportions, and structure, before progressing to observational sculpture, portrait modelling, and human anatomy. More advanced students can focus on refining likeness, expression, and other professional sculpting methods.
Whether you're a complete beginner, preparing a portfolio, or looking to deepen your artistic practice, lessons are designed to support your creative goals at a pace that suits you.
