About Steffan

I am a graduate of THE ROYAL CENTRAL SCHOOL OF SPEECH AND DRAMA.
Since graduating in 2017 I have worked consistently in Theatre (West End and Touring) and on TV and in CINEMAS.
I am also half Welsh and half Italian and am happy to provide services through these languages as I speak both.

In the past year my stage work has included covering the roles of CLIFF/JIMMY BEALES for the ALMEIDA THEATRE'S productions of LOOK BACK IN ANGER/ROOTS (ANGRY AND YOUNG REPERTORY SEASON), and prior to that playing FELIX in the ORANGE TREE THEATRE'S productions of Noël Coward’s final three plays (performed in rep), SUITE IN THREE KEYS.
Earlier in the year I was at the ALMEIDA THEATRE again in their production of KING LEAR, playing the KING OF FRANCE, along with other roles. Prior to that my work has included plays at the NATIONAL THEATRE, along with experience of touring productions for THEATRE NA NÓG and FAT RASCAL THEATRE

In the past year my TV work includes playing an ITALIAN WAITER in the DISNEY+ comedy EXTRAORDINARY(S2), and shortly before that playing the recurring character DI LLOYD in S4C’s Pobol y Cwm.
My stage work has also made it to cinemas and streamers via the NT LIVE productions of OTHELLO and THE CORN IS GREEN.

In teaching my work has spanned from one to one development through to group work/workshops. I have also had experience working in schools; Primary, Secondary, SEN and PRU. Since I have had ample experience with a range of age groups and needs I wholeheartedly value the need for a student specific approach. I also want my students to have fun!

REVIEWS:
OPERATION JULIE-

-“Star of the evening however is Steffan Rizzi as Alston ‘Smiles’ Hughes: drug dealer, hippy and all-round rogue. Rizzi is an assured and confident performer”
- Wales Arts Review

—————————————————————

SUITE IN THREE KEYS-

-“Steffan Rizzi charms as Felix the floor waiter, his returning character becoming a comforting familiar face. An incredibly skilled actor-musician, he captivates the audience with his personable performance, despite being onstage for the least amount of time.”
- A Young(ish) Perspective

-“…the principals should win awards for Stephen Boxer, Emma Fielding and Tara Fitzgerald (with Steffan Rizzi nabbing his scene-stealing opportunities as a waiter).”
- The Telegraph (Dominic Cavendish)

-“The couples are played by Tara Fitzgerald, Emma Fielding and Stephen Boxer, who deftly juggle parts, alongside a charming reappearing waiter (Steffan Rizzi) who serves their champagne and caviar…entertaining, well-executed and giving depth to Coward’s oeuvre”
- The Guardian (Arifa Akbar)

I truly believe that, under the right circumstances, everybody has it in them to be an Actor.

Every one of us has what it takes, for we all have enough of the raw materials of our own experiences, empathy and imagination to tell other people’s stories as if they were our own.
However, as much as I wish the “right circumstances” were available to us all the time, the simple truth of the matter is…they aren’t!

We can’t rely on something that is out of our control, and when it comes to Acting, what separates aspiring actors from the professionals depends on one key quality…

“…can you do it next Tuesday at 2:30?!”

In other words, can you CONSISTENTLY RELY ON YOUR CRAFT?

Craft can seem like a lofty and daunting concept, one of many when approaching the job of Acting! It did to me at least when I was starting out. The good news is that through years of experience as a working Actor and having had the opportunity to watch and learn from some of the best in the business, I can safely say that however much it may seem that some are just “born with the gift”, all of them, without a doubt, HAVE SOME KIND OF CRAFT THAT THEY RELY ON, even if they don’t realise it.
Because the truth is that all the word “Craft” means is finding and using THE RIGHT TOOLS FOR YOU!
All we need to play other people, to know what makes them tick, is to know what we need and what makes us tick ourselves.

Through coaching with me, whether for DRAMA SCHOOL ENTRANCE, or COACHING FOR IN PERSON AUDITIONS OR SELF-TAPE ASSISTANCE, I will walk you through my own working practice as well as a whole host of different styles and techniques (including Stanislavsky, Meisner, Lecoq, working with Classical Texts) in order to help you discover HOW YOU WORK BEST and to realise that you already have everything you need to succeed, all the tools at your disposal, I’m just here to help you get your hands on them!

I look forward to working with you!
