Most education experts recommend starting 11 Plus preparation in Year 4, when children are around 9 years old.

• Year 3 (age 7-8): A gentle introduction that strengthens reading comprehension, vocabulary, and basic arithmetic.
• Year 4 (age 8-9): Begin targeted practice with exam-style questions while keeping sessions manageable.
• Year 5 (age 9-10): Intensive practice focusing on exam technique, speed, and accuracy under timed conditions.

The right timing depends on your child's ability, local competition for grammar school places, and their emotional readiness.

The average price for 11 Plus tutoring in Sutton Coldfield is around £22/h per hour.

The final cost depends on a few key elements:

• Your tutor's background and expertise (QTS status, exam board knowledge, success rate)
• Your child's current level and target schools
• How lessons are conducted (individual tuition, group classes, face-to-face, or via video call)
• The number of hours booked per week

Booking a block of lessons often brings the per-session cost down significantly.
