I like to outline the aims of each lesson at the beginning, but allow students to guide the lesson if there are specific topics they are less sure of.
I think we all learn better with pictures, no matter the level. Being able to see the item under discussion and relate the lesson back to certain aspects of that item helps the student understand the topic much faster than being spoken to for the entire lesson. I have done this from day one and have always found that students relate to this method very well.
I can teach science to students of any age but GCSE or below is my specialty, as I have taken them recently and learned knowledge beyond the syllabus by doing my A Levels and reading around the subject for my university application.
