For the initial session, the student is assessed to establish their strengths and weaknesses in the chosen subject of study. An individual programme of learning is then created, incorporating techniques and resources to cater for the learning needs and preferred learning style of the student.
My core teaching method is positive reinforcement, I believe that people of all abilities can be given the techniques and knowledge they need to feel inspired, through patience, structure, and tailored pathways, such as auditory, kinesthetic, visual or practice revision.
I approach each topic by asking the student what it is they're struggling with, or to provide me with a copy of their assignment criteria.
Tuition for upcoming exams from a graduate with a First (1:1) in BA (Hons) English Language and Linguistics from UWE, Bristol and a PGCE from Durham University. My subject area is English Language but I can also help with revision for Textiles, Media Studies and Business Studies. Additionally, I am able to help with structuring essays, answering exams questions and general writing skills.
**THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST IN BEING TAUGHT BY ME - I AM NOW FULLY BOOKED BETWEEN TEACHING AND MY OWN CREATIVE PRACTICE SO CANNOT TAKE ON ANY NEW STUDENTS** View examples of my own creative practice here (concealed information) - Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach Art and Design for all ages and levels up to Postgraduate level.
What I would like to do in my lessons is to provide wide and various tools useful for an effective storytelling. Here in the UK I learnt how to create an engaging piece but without never forgetting how those materials are all 'old school based': literature, theatre, art and even philosophy (Just think about the Aristotelian three act structure!).
I have successfully taught and mentored over 2,500 students (Primary to Undergraduate) in my 7+ years in academia. Subjects I have taught include Maths, English, and Business Studies modules. I have also supervised over 200 undergraduate students undertaking research projects successfully.
Whoever I’m teaching, I always strive to make sure my lessons are creative, accessible and cater for the needs of the learner. I love finding ways to overcome any barriers my students may have to learning and very much take huge satisfaction in seeing them progress with their studies.
