Find a flute teacher near me in Exeter

The flute is neither the easiest nor the hardest instrument to pick up for beginners.

• Forming the correct embouchure takes time because you must learn to blow air at just the right angle.
• The key layout follows a logical system, and each note uses the same fingering every time.
• Building strong breath support takes weeks but transforms your sound and musical expression.

With regular practice, you can expect to play recognisable tunes in your opening month.

You can expect to pay approximately £15/h for an hour of flute tuition in Exeter.

Prices differ based on a few key elements:

• Whether you're just starting out or preparing for ABRSM or Trinity exams
• How long the tutor has been teaching and their conservatoire or university training
• The duration of each session and any package deals on offer
• Whether you prefer face-to-face sessions or the convenience of remote learning

Most teachers provide a complimentary taster lesson to ensure you feel comfortable.

Compared to the violin, the flute lets newcomers hear pleasant sounds sooner.

• On the violin, even a millimetre of finger drift produces an out-of-tune note.
• Controlling the bow to produce a clean sound takes months of dedicated practice.
• The flute's key system removes guesswork from intonation during your first lessons.

Neither is inherently better; the right instrument is the one that keeps you practising.

Students in Exeter rate their flute instructors 5⭐ out of 5 on average.
