Friendly and down to earth with a pinch of humour thrown in. My lessons will be engaging and supportive and will tackle all aspects of geography. I can look at essays or go through some exam practice. The student is at the heart of the learning and will lead the lesson to areas in which they feel they need extra study support with.
I give lessons to secondary school students as well as university undergraduates.
Taught is secondary schools in West Yorkshire area for nearly 20 years. Passionate about my subject, much traveled and up to date on current affairs and curriculum developments. Taught as a tutor before and have lots of material and resources for KS3/4 and 5.
My teaching style is to be interactive with students. My lessons would be based around teaching the content but also being practical by past papers. I would outgoing and I would cater to each students needs such as areas of weakness. I would also ensure that lessons are fun and informative.
I give laid back but effective tutoring; minimum stress with maximum results. I focus on all examined aspects from quality of written communication, to specific content points. I have sufficient knowledge and background to teach anyone up to a first year degree level of philosophy, religious studies, ethics or theology.
My teaching method is based on the student(s) and how they and I feel will be the most suitable and effect way of learning whether it be one to one or group mentoring for example and whichever way creates a comfortable environment for the student to learn in.
I am enthusiastic about Geography and enjoying my university studies currently focusing on social geographies as well as geographies of the economy. I endeavor to engage students in tutoring through dynamic activities involving current contemporary case studies that relate to the world we live in today.
I am studying BA Geography at the University of Leeds. I did GCSE and A level WJEC Geography. I have resources and essay examples for multiple topics including Development, Coasts, Sustainability, Climate Change, Settlements, Natural Hazards, Population, River Processes and Tectonics. I find in order to learn a topic the student much understand it well enough to describe it simply.
My teaching methodology is to help the student based upon their own needs, as i was a student with a disability i know that not all students can respond to cookie cutter styles and therefore ask for your help to understand what would be a good starting ground from which i can build.
I've taught primarily in three schools across Wakefield and Sheffield. My experience includes Geography at all key stages as well as History, English, French and PE. I build string relationships with students and across 15 years including 5 inspections I have always been graded good or outstanding.
