I am a graduate in Biology and Geology from the University of Bristol studying MSc Biotechnology at Edinburgh University looking to tutor students from secondary school age through to first year undergraduate level. I like to focus on supporting a student with their work from school/university.
My teaching style is personal and adaptive around the student. We will use a mixture of techniques from general revision to more interesting posters and creative styles to ensure the student can learn in their own way outside of the classroom, to then benefit them when they are back in it. PowerPoint presentations are not the only way a child can learn and this is what I aim to impress upon them.

My teaching method is to first gauge where the student struggles and tackle these areas, whilst still covering topics they don't struggle in, by covering what they know when tackling what they don't, the student remains confident. Lack of confidence is often the reason why many struggle.

My name is Stephen and live in South Wales. I already hold a Geography degree and i am currently studying for my second in Healthcare science ( Life Sciences). My specialism is human biology. My approach to teaching would be called a teacher-led collaboration: I would have a quick chat with the student to see how they themselves approach the material, and we would then decide together on a plan for how the student would prefer to utilise our sessions.

This also improves their answering style.Then I go on to example questions so I can give feedback on their style, as well as give them an opportunity to practice with trick questions.

I go each week by what the student needs and requests. There's no point teaching something unrelated to their degree or A Level, so I'm always here to listen and accommodate their learning needs. I will work on small tasks for the tutee to take and work on in their own time that won't get in the way of their work but will help them progress.
Looking to teach A level of all exam boards to students. As well as helping give a very clear understanding of the topics, I also focus on exam technique and past paper questions. A student can go up 2 grades just through good exam technique. Having been tutored myself in Geology, I believe that students benefit considerably more from one-on-one tutoring than as a class.
To be quite honest my teaching method has generally been in the field or at a computer. I have given lectures on Structure from Motion 3d aerial surveying and contributed to computer based laboratory exercises looking at data acquisition from the Internet, remote sensing processing, GIS mapping and so on.
