My teaching method is centered on improving technique as well as knowledge. Students often misunderstand or fail to implement the correct technique, and it is often this that holds them back from gaining easy marks. Beyond this, students must be encouraged to seek and be given additional knowledge to allow them to gain top marks.
I am currently employed as both university lecturer for teacher training and a secondary school teacher. My role as university lecturer means I am responsible for assessing and training prospective history teachers. For 23 years I was Head of Department for History, Psychology and Classics, and to ensure my teaching remains up to date I still teach Years 7-13.
My teaching method is based on understanding mark schemes and enabling student to write in a way that is specifically required by the exam board. I also engage the students by making their weaknesses a priority and engaging with them in a way that increases confidence and thus ability.
I like to go at a steady pace to make sure my students are comfortable and give practical examples in each lesson to ensure students are fully understanding the material I'm delivering.
I am an undergraduate at university studying Archaeology BSc. I am able to tutor history. I have a history GCSE, AS and A-Level. I have an A in my history GCSE and a B in my overall A-Level. I can tutor all history as I tutored both my sisters throughout primary and secondary school.
I prefer one on one classes since I can combine the information being the centre of attention and then helping the student get to grips with the information in whichever way they feel most comfortable. I'm adaptable.
I'm a learner-centered teacher because I believe that it's easy to teach children and children learn better in their comfortable learning style.
My teaching method varies on who I’m teaching, I like to make sure I use the best technique to get the best results!
I approach teaching by first getting to know you and how you work. From there, I identify strengths and weaknesses and attempt to strengthen your poorer areas and integrating them into your work.
I help students to tap into the critical thinking skills they already possess and build knowledge simply, organically and effectively.
Each student that takes me on as a tutor will receive their own personally suited lessons. Each person learns and obtains knowledge in a unique way. Some work well with writing notes, some work well with flashing visual ques, some work well with general discussion or even mind-maps.

I base my classes on first understanding the historical era and background before looking at the individuals.
How can we expect pupils to be enthused with history if our lessons are not enthusing? My lessons will be tailored to the individual but are designed to be as interactive as possible. I believe that through the use of creative writing, music and sometimes drama, pupils can interact with history and see that the subject is relatable to the modern world.
I believe in that everyone has strength and what to learn easier what I aim to find by several methods. I describe and show the task more times if needed, as long as my students confident to solve it and then develop their skills step by step to maximise their results and experience.

I believe that every student has a learning technique that works best for them. It's important to establish technique and what type of learner they are, whether this is visual, kinaesthetic or auditory. The lessons would then be structured around this to ensure that they get the most out of the session.
I approach each topic slowly and concisely to ensure the student fully understands what they are learning. History (as well as other subjects) are not just about learning what happened, but how and why it happened.
I am primarily a medieval historian, and I aspire to encourage others to think outside of the box. Latin is my main subject simply because my own experience as an historian has taught me that knowledge of Latin is a necessary tool for anyone wishing to study the past.
I believe confidence to be pivotal to educational success- which is why instilling the faith of students in their own abilities sits at the forefront of my approach. My aim is to present learning as a collaborative process with an outcome dependent on passion and communication around a shared goal.
I will approach teaching methodically applying methods unique to the student at hand to ensure it is benefitial to their needs
As a young and enthusiastic teacher, the key to my students achievements is my ability to understand and relate to my students. I tailor all lessons to the needs and abilities of my students and adapt the style of lesson according to the way in which each student learns.
