About Will

I'm Will, a current A-Level student studying Biology, English, and Geography, along with an EPQ looking at 'The Body's Homeostatic and Endocrinal Response systems, and for how they're affected by illness and trauma'. I also have plans to conduct a research paper in the summer, looking at the body's DNA Mechanisms and Cancer Prevention systems, in correlation to 'Peto's Paradox' and cancer probability. I have the hopes of one day, working in Oncology and Cancer research, areas of Biology I love and can one day save lives and further explore the development of our amazing bodies. Predicted and aimed grades are 3x A*, with the aim of going to Oxford/Cambridge universities, whilst doing core years in Chemistry. Previously, I've done tutoring in the subject with students, and we've enjoyed exploring the subject, building confidence and tackling weak areas together ready to smash the exams, with many staying on with me as another brain to help explore and remain curious surrounding areas that may not make sense for now, but soon will be cracked and exam ready. Biology is one of my biggest passions. I'm currently reading a 2.3 thousand page research book on all areas of the subject. Within my place of education, I'm conducting research practicals, such as cell fractionation with organelle identification chemicals, and bio-chemical exploration. Also, weekly I conduct KS3 lessons in an array of subjects, including Biology - having fun but also building strong foundations of learning for upcoming assessments and exams. I look forward to hearing from you, and do feel free to reach out with any questions.

As a student who used to struggle with the sciences, I can appreciate it may be hard at times. However, with us working together we can help overcome the barrier and help create your own personal love for Biology. - I mostly specialise in KS3/4 (GCSE) level biology, looking at the AQA exam board (Combined and Triple/Separate) - I received all top grades (8/9s) at GCSE level, after gaining entrance into one of the top grammar schools in Gloucestershire, placing in the top 250 people percentile. During this journey, I've taken part and qualified for the FameLab Science speech competitions, visited 'Science In Action' talks, and exposed myself to surplus resources and knowledge I can't wait to share with you. Lesson Structure - Extremely adaptable to yourself and your needs, though an average lesson would be conducted over an hour period. Upon first lesson, I'd love to establish what you do and don't know, establishing gaps in learning, and knowing what you would like to work on, then sessions after will follow areas you need to/would like to cover. Lessons would always start with recap - 5/10 questions based on what we covered previously to hone in on and develop our understandings further. During each lesson, instead of just providing you with answers, we'll explore the concept together and develop your learning - ready to apply in the exams you'll sit. A range of exam questions/topic based low/high toll questions will be incorporated into lesson time, along with content based study and explanation. Each lesson, homework will be set - don't worry, not much - just enough to give you further understanding based on what we covered, and enough to help you retain the learning we've done previously. I don't want Biology to become a chore, I want it to be something you love, enjoy and want to know more about.
