About Liliana

I'm a lover of books. I have 3 children (between the ages of 11 and 6) and so I am focused on the educational aspect. I have a degree in Physical Education and Sports from the Faculty of Human Mobility in Lisbon; and postdoctoral degree in children's books, at the Catholic University of Lisbon. As a teacher, I am faced with several obstacles in the psychomotor development of children today. Another problem is the fact that our children little question the world around them, of being less and less curious. I believe that this lack of curiosity makes it difficult to learn. Being able to read, write and interpret is essential. The deficient field of reading impedes the execution of school tasks and the acquisition of new knowledge. Written words, as well as images, are gateways to knowledge and opportunity, which are only accessible to those with the ability to decipher them. It is possible to develop this ability and imagination from an early age.

About the lesson

Through reading and familiarity with books, my goal is to introduce adults to the tools they need to help prepare children for success in school and life. Reading programs are almost always directed at children, on the assumption that there will be an adult who will read them a story. However, these adults do not always handle children's books, failing to read all the perspectives that a book offers. I will present some books and guide the adult in the discovery of the same, so that you can enjoy later with the children / students. I will give examples of how to improve and increase VOCABULARY (knowing new vocabulary, using correct language and minimizing spelling errors); stimulate IMAGINATION (through words and through challenges - in these times, the most creative are the ones that adapt better to the world of work); to exercise MEMORY (reading is a task that represents a certain complexity for the brain); TO KNOW the world and our history (through what one learns to read); increase CURIOSITY (by the anxiety of asking oneself and wanting to know more); create EMPATHY (by being sensitive to other people's feelings and points of view, they become more flexible and respectful); to strengthen the CAPACITY OF CONCENTRATION AND ATTENTION (it is necessary to be concentrated in the book to understand it) and to reinforce PARENTAL TIES (the reading at par reinforces the familiar complicity, allowing to question and to discover the feelings, together).
