Hello, my name is Joseph, and I am a biology major at LSU on the pre-med track. My strongest subjects are biology, chemistry, and math, and I enjoy helping students build confidence in areas that often feel overwhelming.
My teaching method and techniques: I believe in breaking down complex concepts into simple, step-by-step explanations. I use active recall and practice problems to reinforce learning, while also connecting abstract material to real-world examples. I am patient and adaptive — if one approach doesn’t click, I adjust until it does.
A typical lesson plan: I usually start by reviewing the student’s goals and identifying their weak spots. Then, I walk through key concepts and solve example problems together. After that, I encourage the student to try problems on their own while I guide and correct in real time. Finally, I wrap up by summarizing what we covered and assigning a few practice questions to strengthen retention.
What sets me apart as a tutor: I know firsthand how challenging science courses can be, and I focus on making difficult material approachable without oversimplifying it. My background as a pre-med student means I understand both the academic pressure and the importance of mastering foundational science.
