About Adelina
Yes, a second-year Marine Biology (BS) Major seems an unlikely candidate for teaching English. The great part is that, like many undergraduates, my range of experience and knowledge works past the typical courses for my major. I have taken (270+) level English courses here at college. Before that, in high school, I was in AP level English, Dual Credit level English, and even attended programs based on my writing abilities. I believe more than experience, a good tutor must have a drive to teach and a drive to write—both of which I have! I don’t just want to teach the bare minimum for a good grade. I want each student to learn and to love what it is they learn!

English is oftentimes an overlooked subject to the many that find classes either mundane or difficult. As a tutor, I will change that within any student who feels that way. Not only will said-student learn how to write anything from poetry to a formal essay. Said student will earn a background that pushes them to want to write. Soon enough, it won’t be a chore, but an action as normal as breathing. Rather than just teaching writing off the bat, I will give students a background. They will read short pieces of literature and find a rhythm that they can own and therefore create with!

She tutored me this summer and school has started again. Even though she is 2000 miles away she has helped me to understand the type of problems I’ve had trouble with. She makes even the hardest problems make sense.
